The World Wind Energy Association has decided to build up a group of lawyers, legal counsels and other interested people with a professional legal background within the Legal Working Group (LWG) to form a global network which concentrates on legal issuses in the wind energy sector.
By participating in the LWG, members will help disseminate best practice norms among legal advisors in the wind sector, thus accelerating wind energy development. Contributing will also gain members exposure within the member community of the WWEA and provide them with added business opportunities.
The themes discussed within the LWG will touch multiple legal facets of the wind sector, including –
- Sustainable guidelines for wind project development
- Certification of standards in wind industry
- Power Purchase Agreements and Feed-In Tariffs
- Certification of legal advisors in wind energy
- Establishment of a Green Climate Fund and a Global FIT
The LWG has organized meetings since 2013 during the World Wind Energy Conference at Cuba and in 2014 at Shanghai, China. In September 2014 a meeting with over 30 lawyers has been organized during the WindEnergy Hamburg, Germany exposition and in November 2014 members of the LWG have co-organized a workshop at Tel Aviv, Israel.
The next activities of the LWG will take place in May 2015 at Cuba and during the World Wind Energy Conference in October 2015 in Israel.
The LWG is coordinated by Tobias Natt, lawyer and legal counsel from Germany.
