Renewables 2018 Global Status Report: Now available!

June 4, 2018 Press Releases

REN21’s Renewables 2018 Global Status Report (GSR) reveals an energy transition well under way in the power sector with investment in new renewable power capacity more than twice that of net, new fossil fuel and nuclear power capacity combined, boding well for a future fuelled by renewables.

But climate commitments and the SDGs means that we can no longer ignore the heating, cooling and transport sectors. Small changes are underway in the heating and cooling sectors and the increasing electrification of transport is offering possibilities for renewable energy uptake despite the dominance of fossil fuel. To boost uptake, both sectors require greater innovation and policies to support innovation.

Produced annually GSR2018 provides the most up-to-date information on the where, what and how of renewables.
